Channel16 is graphical tool that allows users to browse the content of deleted files in an ext2 filesystem interactively, and to recover them into new files. The application also provides a search and rescue operation. This allows the user to input some exact text from the deleted file, which the program uses to search through all deleted inodes. Channel16 uses the low-level methods provided by e2fsprogs. The front end is implemented with Java Swing, and Java Native Interface (JNI) is used to bridge between Java and the ext2fs operations.

FreeJ is being developed in the hope to provide the GNU community with a free, modular and highly customizable application to perform video livesets; a free and open framework that lets anybody implement his own filters concentrating simply on the dsp algorithm developed and furthermore to combine them over any supported layer.

XArchive is a generic front end for archives that uses external wrappers around the command line tools. XArchive checks it's wrapper directory when it starts, consulting each wrapper found to see what file types are supported. Thus, a new archive format can easily be supported by just writing a wrapper for it and dropping it in the wrappers directory.
